IRCC’s new LMIA-exempt work permit for select tech companies in Canada
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada has launched a new work permit through the Innovation Stream of the International Mobility Program (IMP). The Innovation Stream is one of four key components of the Tech Talent Strategy introduced in 2023, aimed at attracting highly skilled professionals to strengthen Canada’s position as a global technology leader.

IRCC issues 1,000 invitations to apply in latest Express Entry draw for French speakers
Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has issued invitations to apply (ITAs) in the latest Express Entry draw. The department issued 1,000 ITAs in a category-based draw for candidates with French language proficiency. Candidates required a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 446 to be considered.

IRCC introduces open work permit options for some PNP candidates
Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has instituted a new temporary policy, allowing some prospective Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) candidates to apply for an open work permit (OWP). This public policy will enable eligible newcomers to obtain an OWP if they have a job offer, a valid work permit, or a work permit that expired on or after May 7th. These individuals must also possess a support letter from the province or territory where they reside (confirming their placement in an Expression of Interest pool or other application inventory process after an initial assessment by the province or territory).
